Kim Kardashian is finally responding to a rather insulting comment made about her by Mad Men actor Jon Hamm. Recently, Hamm went off about what he described as an “idiot culture” in the U.S. — and he took aim at Kim K and Paris Hilton for perpetuating the problem. May be due to the sex tape? Hamm didn’t hold back, either, stating in an Elle UK interview that, “Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated.”
Uh oh. Until now, Kim hasn’t responded. Today, though, she took to her Twitter account, writing a brief statement and possibly escalating a feud with Jon Hamm. Kim wrote:
“I just heard about the comment Jon Hamm made about me in an interview. I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that not everyone takes the same path in life. We’re all working hard and we all have to respect one another. Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, “stupid,” is in my opinion careless.”
Wow. Anyone else think this is a really, really well-written response? It seems very much like the Kardashian PR machine is at work here. Regardless, though, this is a valid response and she makes a point – Kim Kardashian might be rich because of her family, but she’s staying rich by constantly staying in the headlines. She and her sisters, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, manage their own business (the Dash stores) and yes, they’re part of the aforementioned “successful TV show” empire that includes Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Hey, it’s no Mad Men, but it’s just as popular – if not more so.
Is this the end of the Kim Kardashian and Jon Hamm “feud,” or just the beginning? Certainly Kim’s bold, eloquent response is going to generate more attention. Will Jon Hamm respond? Stay tuned!
