Kim Kardashian Talks to Oprah About Her Sex Tape

Oprah Winfrey has a habit of making celebrities open up about their deepest, darkest secrets and feelings, and Kim Kardashian is no exception. In a Kardashian interview on ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ that aired on Sunday, Oprah asked some pretty direct questions to Kim, including about her sex tape with Ray J. — the one that made her so incredibly famous.

Oprah asked Kim K. point blank: “Would you be where you are without the sex tape?” Kim’s response was (understandably) cool and quite thoughtful. After taking a very deep breath, Kim said she does know that the sex tape essentially launched her now multimillion dollar career, bringing her fame and recognition that she might otherwise never have gotten. She said she’s “not naive to that fact.”

But Kim Kardashian wasn’t finished: She went on to tell Oprah Winfrey that yes, while the sex tape with Ray J. (which leaked in 2007, long after she and Ray J. had parted ways) did indeed up her notoriety greatly, it’s also made her feel as if she’s having to prove herself to the world even more. Kim told Oprah, “That’s pretty much how I was introduced to the world. It was a negative way, so I felt like I really had to work ten times harder to get people to see the real me.” Kim goes on to say she felt “humiliated” about the tape and she was devastated at the impact it had on her close-knit family. She said she’s really glad that she never had to explain the sex tape to her father, of all people, and she’s take it back if she could.

Over the years, Kim Kardashian has, indeed, worked hard to prove she’s more than just a pretty (sexy) face and body. She’s part of the Kardashian empire now, with reality TV deals in the millions, a successful business with her sisters in the DASH store and her own clothing and perfume line. She’s also been acting a bit, so a real TV gig (as an actress) isn’t out of the realm of possibility for Kim. In short: The sky is really the limit right now for Kim Kardashian, and while she regrets the sex tape (greatly), she’s moving on as best she can. You think so?
